What is finish rate in MMA?
Finish rate is the share of fights won without needing the judges: for a fighter, the percentage of their wins that came by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
How it works
For a fighter: finish rate = (KO and TKO wins + submission wins) ÷ total wins × 100. Some sources divide by all fights instead of wins, which mixes in losses and gives a lower number, so check which one you are reading.
For a weight class, a card or a promotion, finish rate is the share of fights that ended inside the distance: finishes ÷ fights × 100. That is the version UFCalendar uses on its division boards.
Worked example
A fighter is 20-4 with 9 knockout wins, 5 submission wins and 6 decision wins. Their finish rate is (9 + 5) ÷ 20 = 70% of their wins. Divided by all 24 fights instead, it would read 58%.
Good to know
A doctor stoppage is normally recorded as a technical knockout and counts as a finish, while a win by disqualification is usually not counted as one.
