How the UFCalendar Power Index works
Every fighter starts at 1500. After each fight the winner takes rating points from the loser, the bigger the pre-fight favorite, the fewer points the win earns. The full history is replayed chronologically after every event, so ratings always reflect the complete record.
Not every win says the same thing. Finishes (KO/TKO and submissions) move ratings 1.3x as much as a unanimous decision, split decisions carry only 0.6x, and title fights weigh 10% extra. New fighters' ratings move fast and settle as their record grows.
The pool spans every organization we track, UFC, PFL, ONE, RIZIN, KSW, OKTAGON, ACA and more, so cross-promotion careers stay on one scale. After a year of inactivity a rating drifts back toward 1500. The parameters were chosen by out-of-sample testing: tuned on 2018-2023 results, validated against 2024+ fights.
