The swap landed on the card Tuesday, one card update in a fight week that's had a handful of them. Santos, a 17-1 Brazilian featherweight, is off the prelims entirely. Andrusca, an unbeaten 7-0 prospect out of Moldova, steps in for his first look on a UFC main-roster card.
For Wood, a 23-6 Englishman fighting in front of a European crowd, the opponent change doesn't move the story much. He's the more experienced name either way, and an unbeaten prospect making his UFC debut is, if anything, a more dangerous puzzle than a scouted veteran: nobody in the building has live tape on how Andrusca handles pressure at this level yet.
It's one thread in a card that's been reshuffled more than once since it was first assembled in early August. Featherweights Morgan Charriere and Felipe Lima moved between the main and preliminary cards before settling on the main slate. Michael Page and Nursulton Ruziboev's middleweight bout, along with three other main-card fights, briefly dropped off the listing and came back within hours. Oumar Sy and Modestas Bukauskas went through the same cycle in late August. None of it has cost the card a fight that actually happened, but it's the kind of churn that makes fight week a moving target right up until walkout music plays.
Start times, confirmed for now
As of Tuesday, UFC Fight Night: Hooker vs. Parnasse is set for the Accor Arena in Paris, prelims at 4pm UTC (12pm ET, 6pm CEST) and the main card at 7pm UTC (3pm ET, 9pm CEST), an hour earlier than the broadcast window the card carried as recently as Monday. Dan Hooker headlines against hometown favorite Salahdine Parnasse at lightweight, with Charriere, Ziam and two other French fighters on the main card in front of their own crowd.
