Rizin puts nine fights on the Kyocera Dome Osaka floor this week, and the main event belongs to a 24-year-old nobody outside Japan and Central Asia was tracking two years ago. Rajabali Shaidullaev, an 18-0 featherweight out of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, with every one of those wins by finish, meets former Bellator featherweight champion A.J. McKee in the main event of Super RIZIN 5, live Thursday, September 10, from Kyocera Dome Osaka, Japan.
Shaidullaev (18-0-0) has never needed a scorecard, seven knockouts and eleven submissions across eighteen pro fights, the most recent a first-round TKO of Mikuru Asakura on New Year's Eve. McKee (25-2-0) is the far bigger name, a former Bellator champion who submitted Patricio Pitbull for the title in 2021 before dropping the rematch a year later, and he arrives off a June decision win that keeps him ranked the PFL's number one featherweight. Asakura, still owed one for that 2:54 stoppage, is on the same card lower in the order, against Rizin institution Shinya Aoki.

Asakura vs Aoki is a real grudge match between two of the promotion's biggest domestic draws, and it is sitting at number two on the card behind a featherweight main event most of the audience only started paying attention to this year. That is the bet Rizin is making on Shaidullaev: eighteen fights, four countries, zero losses, and now top billing over a Rizin legend and a former Bellator champion both.
