OKTAGON 93 results: Jonas Mågård submits Radek Roušal in Brno

Radek Roušal fought this one at home, in front of his own crowd, on a four fight winning streak with three knockouts in it. None of that mattered once Jonas Mågård got the fight to the mat in round three.

OKTAGON 93 went to Winning Group Arena in Brno, Czechia, Roušal's home city, and the promotion built the card around him: a ranked, surging featherweight who trains up the road at Muay Thai Brno and had knocked out three of his last four opponents. Mågård, a Dane who already holds OKTAGON's bantamweight title and was moving up to test himself at featherweight, needed one takedown and thirty five seconds of round three to end it by submission. Roušal's win streak is over, and the number five ranking he carried into the cage now belongs to a fighter who just beat him inside the distance.

That is the kind of result that reorders a division. Mågård already sits at number one in OKTAGON's bantamweight rankings, a title he won by finishing Gustavo Lopez back in 2023, and he has now beaten a top five featherweight in his own city while moving up in weight to do it. If OKTAGON wants to talk about a two division push, September 12 is the night that argument got its first real evidence. For Roušal, the loss doesn't erase the four fight streak that got him ranked in the first place, but it does mean the promotion's next marquee push for a homegrown Czech featherweight has to wait.

The rest of the main card

The main card was built for finishes, and it mostly delivered them. Vladimír Lengál needed barely three minutes to knock out Maurice Adorf at lightweight. Daniel Ligocki and Robert Lau both scored second round knockouts, Ligocki over Brajan Przysiwek at middleweight and Lau over Vojtěch Garba at light heavyweight, the latter in a bout that lasted less than a minute into the round. Josef Hála stopped Radovan Úškrt on strikes in a Muay Thai rules bout at catchweight. The lone decision on the main card belonged to Kennedy Rayomba, who outpointed Andrej Kalašnik at middleweight across three rounds.

The prelims

The preliminary card ran even hotter on finishes. Jakub Dohnal needed eleven seconds into round two to knock out Vojto Barborík at lightweight, one of the faster finishes OKTAGON has put on a card this year. Robin Fošum stopped Dustin Rabiega in a Muay Thai rules bout, and Niamh Kinehan knocked out Alana Cook at bantamweight. Tomáš Cigánik and Šimon Bruknar both went the distance for decision wins, over Berkan Badur and Nathan Haywood respectively, and Ali Gündüz closed the night's early prelims with a decision over David Daniel Komar at bantamweight.

Roušal will get his crack at working back into title contention eventually. Mågård, meanwhile, just gave OKTAGON a much harder question to answer: which division does he actually fight in now.
